How to rock turquoise liner?

Hello My Lovelies! Are you tired of sporting the same old black liner day in and day out? Are you tempted to try a new color, but are scared to venture out of your comfort zone?

I’ll be the first one to admit that trying on a bolder eye liner can be daunting, especially is the colour is TURQUOISE. But, after I completed this look, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I ended up liking it!

~ Here’s a complete breakdown of this look ~

FACE

IMG_3626

1. POND’S All in One BB + Fairness Cream ~ I moisturized my face, then I applied this BB cream all over my face and neck.

2. Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer in “Honey” ~ I used this concealer under my eyes to cover any dark circles that were there. I also used this concealer on the bridge of my nose, on the top of my forehead and on my chin to highlight those areas.

3. Street Wear Color Rich Perfection Compact ~ Next, I used this compact to set my base makeup. I love this compact! This has been my go-to compact for the past 2 months. I have already hit pan on this compact!

4. Maybelline Cheeky Glow Blush in “Creamy Cinnamon” ~ I completed my base makeup by applying this blush lightly from the apples of my cheek to my temple.

EYES

IMG_3635

1. The Face Shop Design My Eyebrow ~ I started my eye makeup by filling in any gaps/spaces in my eyebrow with this retractable eyebrow pencil.

2. Maybelline Colossal Kajal (Turquoise) ~ Next, I applied this eye liner pencil as an eye shadow and used all over my eyelid, keeping the color just underneath the crease/fold of my eyes. I also used this pencil to line my lower lash line and my water line.

3. Lakme Shine Line Eye Liner (Black) ~ Then, I used this liquid liner to line my upper lash line. I also used this liner to draw a wing, so that it gives me a more “winged eye” look.

4. Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eye Liner (Black) ~ Next, I used this gel eye liner to go over the previously applied black liner. I did this to make the color look darker and bolder.

5. Maybelline Colossal Volum’ Express Mascara (Washable) ~ I completed this look by applying 2 coats of this mascara on my upper lashes and one coat on my lower lashes.

I hope you guys liked this look 🙂

Taylor Swift “Blank Space” look ~ RECREATED!

Hello My Lovelies!

FACT~ Taylor Swift’s song ‘Blank Space’ needs NO introduction! It’s got over 500 million views on YouTube for crying out loud!

ANOTHER FACT~ While the song ‘Blank Space’ in general is an awesome song, Taylor Swifts’s makeup in the music video is simply stunning! Red Lips AND Smokey Eye! LOVE!

Here, click on the video below to see for yourself!

~Here are some photos of my Taylor Swift ‘Blank Space’ inspired look~

(Sadly, I couldn’t find a blonde wig to mimic Taylor’s blonde hair, BUT, I did style my natural black hair in a faux bob style!)

IMG_3417IMG_3394 IMG_3408 IMG_3445

~Here’s how YOU can recreate this look~

FACEIMG_3452

1. Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation (I used this foundation as my base, my skin is pretty dry, so, I moisturized my face really well before applying foundation all over my face and neck.

After I had applied the first layer, I took a small amount of foundation and then applied again under my eyes, on my nose and parts of my cheek where the light would hit me most.)

2. Street Wear Color Rich Perfection Compact (Next, I used this compact to set my foundation.)

EYES

For the Eyes~ I first primed my eyes with the Urban Decay Primer Potion (not pictured), if you don’t have a primer then I would suggest using Maybelline Color Tattoo in Audacious Asphalt as your base for the eye shadow to stick to.

OR, if you don’t want to use a lot of products, then, just dab a little foundation on the top of your eyelids, blend it out and then apply your eye shadow over it. And then hope for the best!

IMG_3455 IMG_3459

Before starting with the eye shadow, I had applied tape against the corners of my eyes to get sharp diagonal edges.

1. Urban Decay NAKED 1 Palette~ (First, I used the eye shadow ‘SIN’~2nd eye shadow from left~ all over my eyelids.

Next, I used ‘GUNMETAL’~last eye shadow from right~ on the outer half of my eyelid and blended it with a blending brush so that it does look harsh, I also used this eye shadow on my lower lash line.

Then, I used ‘CREEP’~2nd eye shadow from right~ on the outer ‘v’ of my eye, then I smoked this eye shadow using a smoker brush~in case you don’t have a smoker brush, a blending brush would do just fine~to create a softer look.

After that, I used the eye shadow ‘VIRGIN’ on the inner corner~tear ducts~of my eyes to make my eyes stand out more.

Lastly, I removed the tap from the corners of my eyes and cleaned any little fall out from the eye shadow that had fallen on my face.)

IMG_3469

2. Lakme Absolute Shine Line Eye Liner ~ (After I finished the eye shadow part of the makeup, I applied this liquid eye liner on my upper lash line to create a winged eye look.)

3. Maybelline Falsies Mascara ~ (I then used 2-3 coats of this mascara on my eye lashes.)

4. The Face Shop– Design My Eyebrow ~ (Then, I used this retractable eyebrow pencil to fill in any gaps in my eyebrows.)

LIPSIMG_3472

1. Rimmel London Colour Rush Balm in ‘The Redder The Better’ ~ (I applied this balm stain on my lips)

2. Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Lacquer in ‘Big Bang’ ~ (Lastly, I applied this liquid lipstick over the balm stain to really mimic Taylor’s red lips from the video!)

~I hope you guys like this look!~

How to dress like… Rachel Green from FRIENDS?!

JPEG_20150207_235630_146376846

Hello My Lovelies!

Today’s post is dedicated to one of the most awesomest character ever created in television history ~ Rachel Green, played by Jennifer Aniston!

I have always had a soft spot for Friends! I got hooked to the show so fast!

Friends is the best sitcom of all time! It ran from 1994-2004 and had 10 seasons! Friends tells the story of six twenty somethings (later thirty somethings) living in New York City encountering work problems, relationship/love problems and various other dramas (which results in pretty hilarious situations.. cue.. JOEY DOESN’T SHARE FOOD!).

The six friends together form each other’s support systems and become a surrogate family of sorts!

When I watch this show.. for a couple of minutes it feels like, I am also a member of their surrogate family! I could relate to Monica’s neurotic almost OCD need to clean; I hum Phoebe’s ‘smelly cat’ song when no one was looking; I sometimes imagine what I would do if a guy came up to me and said, “How yooou doooin’?” like Joey; I picture Ross vehemently saying, “We were on a BREAK!” to anyone who would listen; and as I write this I can just imagine Chandler stating, “Jeez! could this chick BE anymore into us?!” Ha!

I love the whole gang! Monica, Chandler, Ross, Rachel, Joey and Phoebe!

But out of the whole gang, Rachel (played by Jennifer Aniston) was always my favorite!

~Keep on Reading~

Who is Rachel Green?

Rachel Green is a member of the group of 6 friends featured on Friends. Rachel Green played by Jennifer Aniston starts out the series as Daddy’s Little Girl/Spoilt Princess but gradually throughout the series develops into a strong, independent, successful woman.

Rachel is introduced to the group in the pilot episode when on realizing that she is not in love with her fiance, she runs out of the wedding! She gradually tries to adjust to her new life as an independent woman, working as waitress and having to support herself without daddy’s money! During the initial 2 seasons Rachel works as a waitress and then in season 3 she quits her job as a waitress and due to her love for shopping and clothes, finds a niche for herself working first with Bloomingdale and then with Ralph Lauren during the later 5 seasons!

The highlight of the show has always been the on again-off again romance between Rachel and Ross throughout the series. The couple even had a daughter together in the show!

Although I loved Rachel’s style throughout the series, but, it was only since season 7 that Rachel (played by Jennifer Aniston) began killing it in terms of her outfit choices! So, I would be focusing more on Rachel’s style in the later seasons in this post.

Outfit 1 ~ Rachel’s Everyday/Mom look!

PicsArt_1423328123682

(From left to right : denims, full sleeve tee, white tee)

Rachel became a mom to a baby girl on the show. When, Rachel wasn’t working or going out, her style was very laid back and relaxed! She was a fan of layering T-shirts one over the other.

So, for this look, wear a pair of blue jeans with a light gray full sleeve T-shirt, and you could layer a short or raglan sleeve T-shirt over it.

For this look, I found this cute “Bonjour Paris” T-shirt, and yeah, it is my lame attempt to cheekily acknowledge the time when Rachel was moving to Paris! “Au Revoir!”

PicsArt_1423332472883

In the above picture: 1. The gang meeting Monica and Chandler’s twins for the first time! 2. Ross and Rachel breaking up! 3. Rachel’s iconic hair cut ‘The Rachel’.

Outfit 2 ~ Rachel’s Business Casual Look!

PicsArt_1423327284755

(From left to right: Sweater, Shirt, Pants)

Rachel has an impeccable dressing sense. And on account of her working in fashion, she dresses better than the rest of the cast! In the later seasons Rachel was seen rocking awesome business casual outfits!

To recreate that look~ Pair black jeans, with a crisp white mandarin collar button down shirt and to complete the look throw on a black sweater over the button down and make sure that the white collar of the shirt are peeking through the top of the black sweater!

PicsArt_1423332554775

In the above photo: 1. Rachel rocking the plaid skirt a la Britney! 2. When Phoebe (they all) turned thirty! 3. Monica dating Richard’s son, how rad is the eye patch!

Outfit 3 ~ Rachel’s Dress-y/Party Look!

PicsArt_1423327166036

(From left to right: dress, clutch, shoes)

Rachel opts for more structured silhouettes when she is going for a dress-y event. Be it the charity auction at her work, or Joey’s award show!

For this look pair a red/burgundy/maroon sleeve-less dress with a sweetheart neckline with nude pumps and a leopard print clutch to tie the whole look together!

PicsArt_1423332955732

In the above photo: Two of my most favorite looks of Rachel from Season 10.

1. This simple blue jeans, white shirt, black sweater look from ~ The One With The Late Thanksgiving!

2. The pleated gray skirt, black knee length boots, plus black turtleneck! ~ The One With Princess Consuela!

Outfit 4 ~ Rachel’s I’m-Moving-to-Paris Look!

PicsArt_1423327672126

(From left to right: skirt, cami, stockings, boots)

Rachel was wearing one of the best outfit that she ever wore on the show i.e. the gray pleated skirt-black top-black knee length boots look she wore when she was telling the gang that she has been offered a new job… in Paris.

To recreate this look with a modern twist~ pair a pleated gray skirt with a loose black lace cami, slip on the black semi sheer stockings and the black knee length boots to complete the look!

Friends was a great show! And even after a decade of it being off air, it’s still one of the greatest television shows ever created. Friends is the yardstick with which all the current or future sitcoms should be measured against.

Well, enough said!

How to shop the sales?

Hello My Lovelies!

The sale season is in full swing, and I know for many of us just the thought of navigating through a store during sales seems like the most daunting task ever!

But, fear not! Below I have listed 10 of my tried and tested ways on how to shop during the sales!

~Keep on reading!~

1. Wear Comfortable Shoes!

Okay, first and foremost.  I am a heels-with-everything kinda person on most days. But, when I am out shopping, like don’t-get-in-my-way/ I-am-in-my-zone shopping, I prefer wearing flats for the sheer reason that I know that I am going to be on my foot quite a lot and that I would be getting in and out of clothes in trial rooms a lot, so its just better to wear shoes which are comfortable and from which I can slip my feet in and out quite easily.

2. Check online first!
These days most big brands have online websites where you can actually see the clothes which are on sale. And in some websites you can actually order the items that are on sale directly to your home.

Which is convenient, but, hear me out first! Check the websites thoroughly. Save the photos of the sale items that you like from the brand on your phone/tab/i-pad what have you! Then go to the store and search for the pieces that you wanted. And try them on!

This way you get a clear idea of what you like and how it actually looks on you. If the item that you wanted isn’t available in store then at least try like items to get a correct feel of your size with the brand’s product sizing, this way even if you order online, you would have a clearer idea of whether you would fit a “S”, “M”, “L”, “XL” sizes of the brand.

3. Always try to go during the morning-afternoon time during a weekday

I always hit the stores during the 12-3 pm mark on weekdays because during that time not a lot of people are there and the clothes are neatly stacked and I can roam around the stores peacefully without having disgruntled aunties elbow me in their quest to reach a piece of clothing.

Now, I know not all have the option to hit stores during weekends so….

4. If you can’t do weekdays then on weekends try to hit the stores in the morning.
Weekend mornings are the next best alternative, to shopping during the weekdays. Chances are that the store might still have more shoppers than it would on a weekday morning, but it would still be not as crowded, as it would become during the afternoon-evening time!
 5. Wear uncomplicated clothing when you’re out shopping.
Now many of you might ask what I mean by “uncomplicated”, any outfit which takes you more than 5-6 minutes to put on, or one which have elaborates zips, laces, or would require the assistance of another person to put on, is something you would not want to wear.

Trust me, it really is a hassle going in to 10 different stores and having to go through the charade of hooking and unhooking 10 different hooks! Ugh! Safe yourself from the torture.

6. Start small, then slowly make your way into the jungle!
Whenever I go into a store, I start from a small section, I see the clothes there, get familiar with the clothes and then I take a walk around the store, which is kind of like a cursory glance to get familiar with the what the store has. And after I complete the 1st round. I start a 2nd more thorough round where I check almost each and every section of the store and pick out things for myself.
7. Trial Clothes & Not Sure but-I’ll-still-hang-on-to-these-clothes

After I have picked out the things that I want to try I go to the trial room and try it and after that I usually come out with the clothes that I am sure that I would purchase, but some times I am not really sure about an item. So, I hang on to it and when I a out of the trial room I think about 2 ways in which I could style the item. If I am unable to think of even 2 ways to style it, then I leave the item and move on.

8. Should I or Should I not Buy?

Still unsure, I have a foolproof test that I use in cases of items that I am not really sure whether I should buy or not. In that case, I simply leave the store take a breather. Have a little walk, drink some water. And if after leaving the store, I still can’t stop thinking about a particular item, then I head back to the store and buy it. Simple!

9. Buy clothes/shoes which fit you!
This is a no brainer, but I have been guilty of breaking it a lot! One time I kid you not, I went to Zara and bought a pair of heels that had a different size in each foot! So, my left foot was in size 39( my shoe size) and my right foot was in a size 40 (not my shoe size) shoe. And I still bought them because,” look, how pretty!”
But, seriously its sad! Stop buying clothes in sizes that are too small or too big that you hope to fill in to someday, but, NEWSFLASH! Someday is a vague bitch! And in hopes of someday you are ruining TODAY! So, you might want to be a size “S” or size “L” or whatever but enjoy, acknowledged and appreciate your size-right now!
10. Check Store Policy on Returns/Refunds/Exchange before Payment!

Always check the store’s return policy before checking out with your purchase. Some store have really relaxed return policy and some have a really strict no return no exchange policy! So, you better ask the person at the checkout counter about all this before purchasing.

~I hope this article was helpful! Now, take 3 deep breaths and march your way to the store. You can do it!~

“I HAVE ALL THE ANSWERS!”

PicsArt_1422096697649

(From left to right : dress, necklace, shoes)

Gloria is often seen wearing figure hugging clothes which accentuate her assets, so in this look I chose a nice black bodycon LBD (Little Black Dress), you can accessorize this with this gorgeous rhinestone flower statement necklace and throw in Gloria’s favorite high heels to finish the look!

This is a perfect night out look!

“NEVER LOOK BACK! NEVER!”

PicsArt_1422097821663

(From Left to Right : top, jeans, shoes, necklace)

The standard everyday uniform for Gloria Pritchett is often a figure hugging, deep neck top over a pear of fitted dark wash skinny jeans with high heels!

For this look I paired this gorgeous peplum top with these skinny jeans. You can accessorize with this beautiful statement necklace, which is also a Gloria Pritchett staple! She loves throwing in statement necklaces to accessorize most of her looks!

Finally, I completed the look by pairing it with these nautical wedges! This is a great day look!

“I BURN THIS HOUSE DOWN”

PicsArt_1422098048630

(From left to right : top, skirt, shoes, bracelet)

Gloria is very bold and daring with her choice of clothing. She also loves pencil skirts and animal prints!

So, in this look I paired a animal print pencil skirt with a black button down blouse. You can accessorize this look with this really dainty bracelet and complete the whole look with these gorgeous grey pumps!

Gloria Pritchett played by Sofia Vergara is an awesome character and it was really fun making looks inspired by her!
